In this hands-on workshop, participants will go through the lab procedures to determine which "patients" are infected with Covid (don't worry, there is no chance of picking up Covid from the materials we will work with!). You've probably had a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test for Covid sometime in the last year, but did you ever wonder how it works? Unless it was a home test, the test used a technique called Polymerase Chain Reaction. In this hands-on workshop, participants will go through the lab procedures to determine which "patients" are infected with Covid (don't worry, there is no chance of picking up Covid from the materials we will work with!). Along the way you will learn how this incredibly powerful technique works and other applications for its use. If you are a Biology instructor, you will also see how easy it is to do PCR-based labs using our new equipment!.
