Folsom Lake College’s NextUp program is deeply commuted to serving our community’s current and former foster youth, making their representation and success a focal point at Folsom Lake College.
NextUp aims to equip and empower its students with the skills, awareness, services, and support network that allows them to achieve personal and academic success by providing the following services:
- Priority registration*
- Advising
- Counseling (iSEP, personal, transfer)
- Tutoring
- Book grants and school supplies
- Transportation assistance: monthly gas cards & Los Rios student parking permit
- Events & workshops
- Graduation cap, gown, and NextUp patch
- Financial aid & scholarship assistance*
*Eligibility for NextUp is not guaranteed and based on additional factors including a student’s current age.
Program Eligibility Guidelines
- Currently enrolled in at least one class at Folsom Lake College. If concurrently enrolled at another college, at least one class must be at FLC.
- Financial Aid file resides with Folsom Lake College.
- Ward of Court documentation to verify foster care experience on/after your 13th birthday.
- Student must be under 26 years at the beginning of the academic year.
