Our Identity
Folsom Lake College's main logo visually references the historic and widely recognized architectural detail of the Rainbow Bridge in the City of Folsom.
The logo symbolizes the metaphorical bridge to success that FLC offers students in the region through their pursuit of higher education.
Our identity also includes the College Seal and our Spirit Logo.
Please Note: All logos on this page have been federally trademarked by Los Rios Community College District for Folsom Lake College and FLC Falcon Athletics use only; no outside entities are permitted to use without express written consent from FLC's Public Information Services Office (flc-pio@flc.losrios.edu).
Download All Logos
This download includes the entire Folsom Lake College logo package containing our stacked and horizontal logo, the official college seal and our spirit logo. Once the file is unzipped, you'll find folders separated by color. Please see our Color Guide and read about file types below to understand resolution and best usage practices. You may also download our logos individually as seen further down this section.
Let's cover a principles to help you determine which type of file to use in your project.
Decide the intention of your project. Will your project be viewed on a device or printed on physical material? This will determine the document's color space, type of file, and resolution to use.

Color Space
There are only two color spaces you need to know: CMYK and RGB.
CMYK is used for a physically printed project (paper, vinyl, shirt, sign, etc.). RGB is used for any project viewed on device screens (computers, TVs, smart phones, projectors, etc.)
If you want an accurate print, use CMYK. If you want the file to display properly on an electronic device, use RGB.

File Type
Vector
For use in print/material type projects. A vector, known as an EPS, is a file which never becomes pixelated no matter how large you need the graphic. A vector is not an image. Use vectors for making graphics intended for T-Shirts, signs, large banners, plaques, cups, vinyl cut-outs, jerseys, machined creations (wood, glass, metal, etc.) Your vendor will ask for this file type in these special-use situations.
JPG
For use in both print and electronic media. This is the most common image file. For almost all project uses, use this file type. The background color, by default, is white.
PNG
For use in both print and electronic media. A PNG is an image file with a transparent background. If you want your graphic to display over a solid color without having an annoying white box, choose this option.

Resolution
Resolution does not apply to vectors, only images. The higher the resolution, the sharper the file prints (or displays). For print, 300 DPI yields sharp results. For screens on electronic devices, 72 DPI is standard.

Logo Misuse
The logo must be used with consistency in order to keep brand continuity and visual impact. Here are some examples of how not to use the logo.
Don't use an old version of the logo.
Don't stretch or distort the logo.
Don't use a low-resolution logo.

Don't separate parts of the logo.
Don't use a busy background for the logo.

Don't use a low contrast background color.
Don't use effects on the logo.
Don't recreate the logo.
Department Logos
In order to properly present your department, division, or program of Folsom Lake College, it is important to maintain consistency with the college branding. Co-branded logos are an excellent way to visually communicate the relationship between the college and your area.
Co-branded logos are depicted with the official bridge symbol, the FLC wordmark (without the centers sub-text) with the department/area/program name below. The name should use Trajan font in title-case. Co-brands can be printed in black, FLC teal, or white (reversed). For assistance in creating a co-branded logo, please contact the Public Information Services Office at: flc-pio@flc.losrios.edu or (916) 608-6993.
Which College Entities Are Allowed To Use These Co-brand Variations?
The following entities have permission to use an official co-brand: the centers, individual Student Services departments, academic departments, and Associated Students. Other departments and entities may be applicable. Please contact the Public Information Services Office for approval and co-branded logo artwork.
When Should These Co-brand Variations Be Used?
These official co-brands should be used sparingly. Primarily, they are intended for use in the header on official letterhead and email communications originating from the operating unit. They may also be used on unit-specific promotional materials (e.g., brochures). Additionally, their usage must follow the same fundamental standards noted in this style guide.
Are There Any Exceptions?
A limited number of campus departments and programs may have their own unique logo because of their unique needs. However, these unique logos must show a clear relation to the college and are subject to initial review and approval by the Public Information Services Office.
Need Help?
If you are unsure as to whether your desired use of the college logo is allowable, please email the Public Information Services Office or call (916) 608-6993.
